It's my great pleasure to present one of the greatest swing musicians I've ever had the fortune to meet, Attila Korb is from Hungary and is currently based in Budapest. He has performed all over the world with his own group the Attila Korb International Allstars, Boheme Ragtime Orchestra and The Modern Art Orchestra. This gig will be a tribute to Louis Armstrong and the great music from which all great jazz herlads.
I'm very excited about this project, I've been working behind the scenes with violinist Dan Oates and bass saxophonist David Horniblow on some early jazz tunes from the repertoire of Eddie Lang and Joe Venuti. For this gig we'll be joined by the international star clarinetist Adrien Cox.
I'll be joined by the great Leon Greening on piano and equally great Adam King on double bass for this gig at Cable Cafe in Oval. We'll be playing some tunes by my favourite guitarists: Barney Kessel and some arrangements of tunes by one of the pioneers of bebop guitar: Tal Farlow.
The Harry Sankey Poll Winners Trio featuring Peter Adam Hill on drums and Louie Thomas on double bass draw on the repertoire of the 1960's Poll Winners Trio headed up by Barney Kessel with Ray Brown and Shelly Manne. Inspired by the guitar playing of Tal Farlow, Joe Pass and of course Barney, Harry Sankey leads this exciting trio of young jazz musicians. The the band are joined in the second set by some of London's hottest jazz talent for an invited jam session.
